I like the bag with the zip lock opening for freshness. The roasting date is important to me. It was a roast date within the month.
Evaluated as espresso: If you're familiar with actual obsidian volcanic rock, you'll know that this coffee is well-named. If you have to choose between Mercurys' Obsidian and Rising, I would say: Choose Obsidian for its appealing and somewhat sophisticated darkness; choose Rising for its excellent balanced complexity.
Deep, bold, rich flavor
Obsidian is not any ordinary robiust blend…..highly recommend if you want to start your day knowing you are drinking real coffee!! Rich and dark without any acidic aftertaste. I still love Retrograde but am so happy with Obsidian that I am making it my go-to at least for the time being.
